If you experience the Failed to Load Module error, you can do the following to try to resolve the issue:

  1. Make sure you don't have two cameras opened: external document camera and laptop camera.
  2. If using an external document camera, make sure the camera is on before you click on the "Grade from Camera" option.
  3. If using an external document camera, use a different USB port on your computer.
  4. Make sure no other applications opened on your computer are trying to access the camera.
  5. Make sure your pop-up blocker is not turned on. This will prevent you from receiving the pop-up "Will you allow the browser to access your camera." Reference Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome to make sure your pop-up blocker is not turned on for Illuminate.
  6. Make sure your camera works with other applications: Google Meets, Zoom, Skype that require the usage of a camera. If the camera does not work with those applications it will not work with Lighting Grader.
  7. Make sure you are using a tested compatible external camera. Click here to see compatible cameras.
  8. Clear your Google Chrome browser cache. You will use the following instructions: Clear cache & cookies. You can uncheck the Cookies and other site data and Browsing History so that you are not logged out of all of your programs.
  9. Restart your Google Chrome Browser. Click on Google Chrome menu button google_chrome_menu_button.pngin the upper right corner of your Chrome browser. Click the three dots button to open a menu, and click Exit. restart_Google_Chrome_browser.png
  10. Update your current version of Google Chrome. Illuminate recommends version 61 or newer for Lightning Grader. Any older version may not work.
    • Click on the three stacked bars on the top right of your browser window.
    • Click on Help --> About Google Chrome. If you version is up-to-date, it may be that Google Chrome is stuck on an older version.
    • You will need to quit/close Chrome.
    • Restart/open Chrome and check again the version installed. Did it stay the same?
      • if so, reboot your computer. Restart/open Chrome and check again the version installed. Did it stay the same?
        • If so, visit Chrome's website here to download and install the most recent versions.
  11. Uninstall GradeCam plugins. Lightning Grader does not require any plugins.
    • For Windows XP/7
      • Click on the Start Menu and then click on Control Panel.
      • Click on Uninstall a Program
      • Find GradeCam in your list of programs, and click to Uninstall.
    • For Windows 8 or later
      • Click on the Start Menu or Windows icon
      • Type Control Panel in the search box. After you have found the Control Panel, click on it to select it.
      • Click on Uninstall a Program.
      • Find the GradeCam in your list of programs, and click to Uninstall.
  12. Restart your computer. Click the start start_icon.pngbutton in the lower left corner of your screen or the windows button on your keyboard. Next click the power power_icon.pngicon and select the option Restart.
